About Wildhart

A volunteer-powered, no-kill rescue built on second chances — for the animals others gave up on, and the families who've been waiting for them.

We started with one dog nobody wanted.

Wildhart began in a borrowed garage with a single senior dog who'd been passed over again and again. A handful of neighbors decided that wasn't good enough — and that small act of stubbornness grew into a rescue that has now rehomed thousands of animals across western North Carolina.

We're a no-kill 501(c)(3), which means we don't give up on an animal because they're old, scared, or need medical care. We meet each one where they are, give them time to heal, and hold out for the family who'll love them exactly as they are.

What we believe

Every animal is worth saving, every adopter deserves an honest match, and every volunteer makes the work possible. Compassion isn't a slogan here — it's the whole job.
